Consultation on Federal Regulatory Council

PFIH’s consultation “Exploring a Federal Approach to Voluntary Self Regulation of Complementary Healthcare” closed on 28 July, and the results are currently being analysed. They will be presented to the various therapy forums on 27 September, and Jean Nestor from PFIH will be coming to the Bowen Forum’s AGM on 30 September to talk about them.

Many thanks to everyone who responded to the consultation. The Bowen Forum’s response will be posted on our website shortly.

Free CPD days

As an incentive for Bowen therapists to respond, we offered anyone the chance to enter their name into a raffle, for which there are two prizes, each of two free Bowen CPD days. If you responded, but didn’t copy in the Bowen Forum to your response, please send a short message to info@bowenforum.org.uk before 29 September, confirming that you are eligible for the raffle.

Electronic Survey

We are sending out an electronic survey to members on e-mail, asking three short questions to do with the consultation and regulation. The survey will literally take only a couple of minutes to complete, so we would be very grateful if everyone could click on the link that will be sent to you. The survey is anonymous, and so we cannot track who has responded.

New Lay Member

We are very pleased to announce that Lynden Lane has joined the Forum Committee as a Lay Member. She will be working with the Education sub-group.

Grant application 2006/7

In our last newsletter, we mentioned that The Bowen Forum had applied for a renewed grant from PFIH for 2006/7. We are pleased to announce that our application was successful, and we received a first instalment of £2,270 in June.

Website

The Bowen Forum website, www.bowenforum.org.uk, includes the quarterly newsletters, answers to a number of Frequently Asked Questions, and a section providing a simple guide to regulation. The Forum’s response to the consultation will be added very shortly.

If anyone has any feedback on the website, suggestions for improvements, or any questions about any aspect of the regulatory process, please e-mail us at info@bowenforum.org.uk.

Bowen Forum Mailing list

This electronic newsletter will be posted on the website, giving details of recent developments towards voluntary self regulation. If anyone is interested in a version by e-mail, along with news of when the website has been updated, then please e-mail us at info@bowenforum.org.uk, and ask to be put on our mailing list. We regret that it is not feasible for us to provide any information in hard copy, but as a result there is no charge for being on the mailing list.

Please also note that the Bowen Forum isn’t a membership association for therapists, and being on the mailing list does not confer any regulated status – it is purely a way of ensuring that you can keep up to date with developments in the field of regulation.
